Chris Spencer is an illustrator living and working in the beautiful and scenic county of Herefordshire. Having recently graduated from Hereford College of Arts; Chris is now seeking commissions to expand his portfolio. Chris uses rustic textures inspired by the landscape he grew up in, giving his work a traditional yet contemporary aesthetic. He is driven by creating brilliantly vibrant and majestic imagery, paying attention to composition, colour and layout in order to achieve the best possible outcome. Chris puts together traditional mark-making methods and digital rendering in order to create a unique style of thought provoking illustration that is pleasing to both the eye and mind. He uses simple but clever visual metaphors that spark intrigue in the viewer.

"I have been drawing ever since I was a kid, so in many ways it's no surprise that I would seek to turn my passion into a career. Graphite pencils have always been my medium of choice - they are brilliant for detailed, intricate drawings, but you can also achieve a range of textures which look brilliant when combined with digital rendering. I love the collaboration of hand-drawn components and digital rendering - that moment when pencil and paper meets mouse and monitor, that's when it gets interesting. However the most interesting part of it for me is finding ways to translate words or ideas into imagery, and communicating it in a way that is universally understandable. I think this is something that I will always enjoy doing, but getting to do it as a job and providing a service is even better!"
